Most traditional interactive whiteboards use resistive or capacitive touch panels, which is the main reason why their cost cannot be lowered. The size and weight of the board also increases the freight (shipping) cost. As a result, these boards can cost thousands of dollars. By contrast, IS-01 is designed around infrared (IR), an inexpensive technology. A Sensor Cam, connected to the computer and directed toward the screen, captures IR signals sent out by the Interactive Pen. These signals are converted into coordinates which control the mouse cursor. With this innovative use of IR, IS-01 doesn't need a costly touch panel. Thus, we are able to manufacture IS-01 at an affordable price.

• Some expensive interactive whiteboards can be operated with fingers and other materials, while IS-01 only works with its Interactive Pen.
• The Interactive Pen must remain within view of the Sensor Cam to work. The user (or viewers) cannot block the area between the Cam and the Pen with their body. This limitation does not apply to most traditional interactive whiteboards.

Yes, IS-01 can be used with IPEVO document cameras. Annotator has a button to launch Presenter software which displays real-time video from your doc cam. Documents, textbooks, artwork, 3D objects, handwritten notes, math equations, or anything else can be presented for sharing and annotating.

A soft projector screen is not recommended for use with IS-01 because the surface will move, which may affect Interactive Pen accuracy. When the Interactive Pen is pressed against the surface of the soft projector screen, the screen is likely to move. As a result, the Sensor Cam may capture the Interactive Pen at an incorrect location, resulting in an inaccurate cursor. With that said, if you are able to keep the screen steady or flat against the wall, pressing the IPEVO button on the Interactive Pen instead of directly touching the screen surface could still work for you.

IS-01 can be used with any image processing software and whiteboards. Any mouse-based software should work fine. Please note that IS-01 also comes with an interactive whiteboard software called Annotator which features virtual whiteboards, drawing tools such as shapes and colors, and integration with IPEVO doc cams and Presenter software. Annotator can also be used in combination with any other application.

IS-01 does not support multi-touch functions. Only one Interactive Pen will be captured at a time, regardless of the number of activated Interactive Pens. However, if you have two sets of computers and projectors running side by side, two IS-01s may be used separately.

IS-01 doesn't connect directly to your projector—it connects to your computer. Therefore, any projector that is compatible with your computer before adding IS-01 to your setup should display and calibrate without issue after connecting IS-01.

We have USB 2.0 Extension Cable (16 Feet) and USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable (32 Feet), they are both tested compatible with IS-01. USB 2.0 Extension Cable (16 Feet) and IS-01 combination is known incompatible with Macbooks manufactured after 2013. If you have such Macbooks, please select the USB 2.0 Active Extension Cable (32 Feet) instead.
